About Us

Long View Farm has grown out of our passion for the land that we live on and the animals we raise and use here. Using draft horses as our primary source of motive power is a key part of our goal to work in a sustainable way. We live lightly on our land and aspire to restore this old farm to greater productivity.

When we started, the house was unlivable and the fields were buried in invasive species like multiflora rose and oriental bittersweet. Forest trails were overgrown and inaccessible.

Our current herd of horses include two geldings named Prince and Harry and two mares named Freya and Elinor. Prince and Harry are the everyday working team and Freya and Elinor are in training to take over when the boys retire. Breeding and training our own horses allows us to continue our farming practices with less reliance on outside sources of power and income and brings great meaning to our work.

Any of the horses can take guests out for wagon and sleigh rides, and all of them work in the garden, forest, and hay fields.
